Our Goals

Gibraltar E-Money Association is a non-profit association of companies who are dedicated to education and the exchange of professional information concerning all aspects of e-money. GEMA focuses on identifying and promoting the common interests of Members in their relationships with the Gibraltar Government, the Financial Services Commission, the media, private individuals, business and professional organisations.

The Primary targets of GEMA are:

• To collaborate in order to solve common issues such as fraud, money laundering, terrorist funding or other criminal activity.
• To coordinate promotion of Gibraltar as a centre of excellence and integrity for Payment Service Providers (PSP’s). This embraces further development and preservation of the Gibraltar good reputation as a first class international financial centre.
• To establish a recognised medium for communication and lobbying between the Association and:
  • Government and Public Authorities of Gibraltar relating to Financial Services including the Financial Services Commission.
  • Other Authority or professional bodies with related interests such as VISA or MasterCard.
• To encourage and promote the continuing education of Members of the Association including but not limited to the running of education courses. This includes arranging training courses for Payment Service Provider (PSP) personnel and supporting institutions in Gibraltar in the furtherance of commercial education with the emphasis on developing the PSP industry, finance and payments administration, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism finance practices.
• To provide a forum for discussion on matters of mutual interest to Members of the Association and provide a medium for expression of professional opinion, in particular as regards to regulatory and legislative matters and to seek legal advice as needed.
